Evaluative research
Goal
To detail and assess the compliance of areas to be improved and setting some recommendations for the interaction with the tax return programme.
Methodological approach:
A heuristic analysis or expert analysis is the search for all those aspects that, when modified, imply a substantial improvement in the user experience of an application or system. To perform this project we followed the steps described below:
- We review the UI of the tool based on 5 top-tasks
- We have used Nielsen and Molich's 10 heuristic principles with the addition of data privacy due to the sensitivity of the data handled in this application. Each of the principles has a particular weight regarding to its relevance amongst the other ones.
- For each principle, specific variables are defined describing how this pronciples are applied on the UI displayed

Role & Team
UX researcher - Senior consultant
Collaborating with a Project Manager and another UX researcher consultant from Capgemini.
Technique
Heuristic analysis
- A team of 2 researchers, browse the app executing the 5 top task and use a spreadsheet to score their experience using the different variables and a discrete scale from 1 to 5.
The results
- Report with details of the screens, current status, improvements and heuristics criteria implied
- Weighting and compliance of categories that provided guidance to prioritize next steps.
